Millennials New Social Card, Magnises

The founder of Magnises is Billy McFarland. The company’s aim is to assist its members in discovering their city. Currently, Magnises is only available to residents of New York City. It’s evident from Billy’s actions of learning how to code that he had a lifelong passion for connecting different communities via an application. Mr. McFarland was born in New York but grew up in New Jersey.

At the age of 23 years old, he discovered Magnises which is an exclusive social club for members who have to carry a black card that gives them access to special events or great deals.

The card upon registration gets instant access to one’s credit card or bank account for payment purposes. By presenting your Magnises card, you’re eligible for discounts at bars, restaurants or even reserve experiences like luxurious getaways or private concerts.

The idea Mr. McFarland had in mind was to connect new or existing businesses with millennials online or offline. There’re already some companies which have accepted to partner with Magnises which are restaurants like Catch and Esquina and clubs like Goldbar and finale. Members are also entitled to discounts on helicopter flights to the Hamptons with Blade and attend private shows.

Inc reported that Billy McFarland has only been in business with Magnises for only a year now, and it has more than 6,000 members each paying $250 per year. Most of the target group members are working professionals who range in the age of 21 to 35 years old.

These professionals are mostly in fields like fashion, technology or finance. Before a new member is sworn in, the Magnises team have to verify and approve them.

Magnises plans to expand their company to ten ten different cities in the span of a year’s time.

They will start by moving into Washington, DC, where they have a willing partner known as the Embassy Row Hotel. To date, Magnises has received funds of over $3 million excluding the annual membership fees.
