The Success of Elysium Health and its Supplement, Basis

The market is full of many types of supplements, of which countless variations are produced and sold in all kinds of stores. In the United States, the American supplement industry is loosely regulated. Many manufacturers of supplements make loads of claims, tons of which are actually untrue or misleading.

Dr. Leonard Guarente co-founded a consumer health science company: Elysium Health in 2014.

Elysium Health translates advances in science and technology into clinically-validated health products that work.

Elysium Health’s first supplement, Basis, is based on more than 25 years of aging research, clinically-validated, and third-party quality tested.

What Does Elysium Health Do?

Elysium Health’s supplement Basis works by increasing and sustaining levels of NAD+ in our cells. This critical coenzyme is essential to many of our cellular processes, such as energy creation, DNA protection, circadian rhythms, and more.  As we age, NAD+ levels decline, and those functions break down.

Elysium is also in the process of developing new products that focus on the microbiome, cognitive health, skin health, muscle function, and circadian rhythms. These products are in various stages of pre-clinical and clinical trials.

Who Is Behind Elysium Health?

Dr. Leonard Guarente is the co-founder and chief scientist of Elysium Health, and the company’s business operations are carried out by its two executives, Dan Alminana and Eric Marcotulli.

Dr. Guarente is also the director of the Paul F. Glenn Center for Biology of Aging Research at MIT. He has conducted significant research into the genetic and molecular causes of aging during his career.

Elysium Health also works with world-class scientists from universities like Stanford, Yale, and Harvard. Read This Article to learn more.

Background on Elysium Health

Elysium Health is a consumer health company that wants to help people live healthier, longer. The company was established in 2014 by Dr. Leonard Guarente, the director of the Paul F. Glenn Center for Biology of Aging Research at MIT. He co-founded Elysium Health to translate advances in science and technology into clinically-validated products that work.

Elysium Health’s Scientific Advisory Board consists of world-class scientists who work at prestigious universities including Stanford, Yale, and Harvard. These scientists help steer the direction of the company and guide the progress of Elysium Health’s research. (See How To Be Preventative About Your Health)

Basis is the first supplement created by Elysium Health and it is based on more than 25 years of prior research. The supplement works by increasing and sustaining levels of the coenzyme NAD+ in our cells. NAD+ is essential for many different cellular tasks like DNA maintenance, energy creation, and circadian rhythms. As humans age, the levels of NAD+ decline and those functions break down.

Basis is made up of two ingredients: nicotinamide riboside and pterostilbene. While both of those have been used individually before, Basis is unique because it combines the two ingredients together.

In order to make sure that Elysium could stand by their claims, the company conducted a clinical trial on Basis. The clinical trial proved that Basis increases levels of NAD+ in humans by an average of 40 percent when taken daily over the course of four weeks. The increase was sustained at eight weeks, the duration of the trial.

Customers can purchase Basis on Elysium Health’s website: An individual jar of the supplement costs $60 and contains 60 capsules (two capsules daily is the recommended dose).
